Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to present ORIGINS, an exhibition of work by 11 emerging artists, selected from the 2014 undergraduate shows at seven Irish art colleges: Crawford College of Art & Design, Dublin Institute of Technology, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art & Design, Galway & Mayo Institute of Technology, Limerick School of Art & Design, National College of Art & Design and Waterford Institute of Technology.
In June the curatorial team from LCA visited the degree shows across the country to choose works for the exhibition. The artists in the show were selected on the basis of individual merit, rather than a fixed number of artists from each college or giving more weight to some colleges.
Mediums in ORIGINS include painting, installation, video and sculpture representing the key concerns of this year’s fine art cohort. Exhibition highlights include a reconfiguring of an installation by Sandra Davoren, from her DIT show, to suit the architecture of St Carthage Hall and a new work by Sam Bachy, from NCAD, made for ORIGINS.
ORIGINS is an annual exhibition held each autumn in St Carthage Hall as a way of presenting emerging new artists in a collective context, alongside Lismore Castle Arts respected programme of important international artists.
One student from ORIGINS will be selected for the Lismore Castle Arts Graduate Award.
