Cork based photographer Dervla Baker will lead A Space for Lismore (ASFL) 2020/2021. Commissioned to explore local photographic collections and archives in the Lismore region, this is a timely project at a time when families are confined to their immediate locality and reconsidering what is of significance and meaning to them. This project invites people to dig out photos and negatives and to explore what treasures – either of personal sentiment or undiscovered lost records – may lay hidden. Dervla would like to both explore historic work but also allow for contemporary images – photos which may represent things of importance to people in the current climate.
This is a slow burning project with a deeper community engagement, and will have an important web presence.
You can contact us directly if you have negatives, photographs or documents you would like to send us. We will arrange for the images to be delivered to Lismore Castle Arts, and we undertake to care for images to the best of our ability. Dervla will review, scan and digitise images, making a selection from material submitted.
