Lismore Castle
31 May - 06 Jun, 2022
Ireland's Summer Opera Festival will return in 2022 with Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice conducted by Peter Whelan and directed by David Bolger, from 31 May - 6 June in Lismore, Co. Waterford. This year's opera production at Blackwater Valley Opera Festival will feature artistic collaborations with the acclaimed Irish Baroque Orchestra and award-winning CoisCéim Dance Theatre. The opera Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, is the headline event for four evening performances from June 1 - 5, at Lismore Castle, as well as classical musical recitals and concerts, schools and free events at venues throughout the Blackwater Valley.
Some of this year's highlights include a series of concerts at Dromore Yard, featuring Maurice Steger and Friends: with Daniele Caminiti and Mauro Valli; the talented pianist Giovanni Belluci; and the Irish Baroque Orchestra, conducted under the artistic direction of Peter Whelan. Following the success of 2021, free Open Air Recitals will continue to bring the magic of the BVOF to local communities in Lismore, Youghal, Dungarvan and Fermoy this year. Dining will be part of the festival once again, with Eunice Power providing formal dining or gourmet table picnics in luxurious, stretch tents within the gardens at Lismore Castle.
