Stable Yard at Lismore Castle
From 2023
Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to announce we have commissioned Niamh O’Malley to create a new permanent artwork for the former stable yard at Lismore Castle.
Niamh O’Malley works with drawing, sculpture, painting, video, and more recently glass. She is drawn to familiar materials that display traces of their own making, laboring the surfaces and edges of polished wood and graphite panels. Her sculptures are partly reminiscent of furniture; shelves, canopies, panels, and bulk. Through her body of work, the artist continually reminds us of the directed and mediated image - from bench, to view, to landscape.
Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to acknowledge the support of the Arts Council via the Commissions Award in the delivery of this ambitious new work. The work formed part of Niamh O’Malley’s presentation at the Venice Bienniale in 2022, and has now been permanently installed in Lismore Castle.
Forming part of a Sculpture Yard at Lismore Castle, the work is on view at select times throughout the year. along with other works by Dorothy Cross and Anthony Gormley.
We continue to hold yearly viewing days to visit the Sculpture Yard with the LCA team.
